"I have been in and out of recovery since 1989. I had the seed planted long ago but was never serious about getting sober. In August of 2023 I was introduced to some very spiritual people at Lotus Recovery. They taught the Big Book of AA in a way I had not ever experienced. I needed repetitive teaching because of the drug and alcohol induced fog my brain was still in.

From Elle, I learned I'm not the person I was in active addiction. The way Elle thought the 1st three steps brought a new understanding of them for me and gave me a sense of urgency to grasp this disease as a matter of life and death. Elle has a fire about her for recovery and I'm glad I was able to catch a spark of what she has such a passion for.

I learned from Bion that the past is the past, you can't change it. The future is the future - you can't go there by snapping your fingers. What we have is right now. He also taught me not to let external circumstances affect my internal self.

Shane got me to understand it's the way you respond or accept what's happening around you or going on with you. You can either end up good because you use your spiritual tools to get through any given situation or just the opposite, not picking up those spiritual tools takes you right back out to the miserable person you were before. The choice is yours; they don't force you into believing what they believe.

They are all a testimony to what brought them from the gates of hell to now very passionate people sharing their experience, strength, and courage. I'm grateful that my Higher Power brought me to a place where life takes on new meaning!!!  Honorable mention to Scott Dare and Jon, who both had faith in me getting a job which kept me hopeful, cause you both kept saying it will happen when it is supposed to. Don't leave before the miracle happens!"
