From Hopeless to Hopeful

Haley T.

"The folks at Lotus have played such imperative roles in my recovery. I came into treatment as a broken, hopeless person that believed getting drunk was miserable, getting high was miserable, but being sober was the worst out of the three and fully believed that I was doomed to play out getting high until I died. I was plagued by suicidal thoughts but too afraid to do it.

Then I met Elle and through listening to her speak, I realized finally that someone had felt the way that I felt... And had found a way to be sober and find joy in a sober life. I never could bring myself to believe in God, but Bion helped me see a concept of a higher power that I could accept and build upon, and how to be present in my own life.

I never truly understood what was wrong with me, but Shane explained it to me, and how to go about fixing it, all in words that made sense to me. Everyone at Lotus played different, yet equally important parts in helping me digest the big book of alcoholics anonymous - a book that contained a program that I owe my life to. If you feel lost, broken, and hopeless like I did and think there's no way out, give Lotus a try. Life can be beautiful when you let go, and we do recover."
